Last night the Moschino team hosted an event wittingly entitled "Love is in the Hair" at their boutique in NYC's Meatpacking district. They used the event to celebrate the launch of their Prefall Collection and give a preview of their stunning 2010 Holiday collection. The store is really cute and features furniture such as an oversized purse that doubles as a chair and giant diamond rings that are used as display cases. The event also featured AMAZING electric violinist Caitlin Moe and DJ Mia Morretti...imagine electric violin accompanying remixes of MGMT songs. Below are some highlights of the event and a sneak peak of Moschino Holiday 2010. --Derek   Read More

Scarf Fever

Even though it is summer time, scarves are an accessory that can be worn year round. But if you’re going to wear one, definitely go with a lighter fabric scarf so you don’t die of heat. There are so many trendy ways to wear them during these sizzling summer days - loosely around your neck, tie it around your head, or even roll it into a head band. Add a great pair of big sunnies and you are set to go walk the beach with style! -- Blaire   Perfect little white dresses to add a scarf to:       Read More

Get The Look: Tony Awards

The Tony Awards were held last night in NYC, and quite a few familiar celebrity faces turned up. Here’s some of the looks we liked and some similar RTR styles to hit the red carpet in. -- Lara   Yummy yellow! We are loving Lea Michelle in this bright colored Zac Posen. Try this Lela Rose style for a similarly colorful look.     Naomi Watts always looks spectacular, and it certainly doesn't hurt to have Liev Schreiber on one arm. You can't rent him, but you can get the contrasting waist detail with a style from camilla & marc that's more wearable off the red carpet.     Grey Gardens... Katie Holmes looks great in this gorgeous gown. Stun in a similar shade with Bibhu Mohapatra's Princess Sweetheart Gown.   Read More

First thing Wednesday morning I had my Yigal Azrouël Resort 2010 appointment at their very cool showroom in the Garment District of NYC. I love to start my day at the Yigal showroom because it is such a tranquil environment. His attention to detail when designing a dress is divine, and the same goes for his ability to design interiors. The showroom features great antique furniture and vintage decorative objects like bowling pins and mirrors. In the background, classical piano music played. The dresses he showed at the appointment were gorgeous too...I especially love this navy abstract metallic jacquard dress with beaded shoulders and a leather obi belt. The rest of the collection featured beautiful draped jersey gowns and dresses with lots of pretty leather details. Until this collection arrives in November, you can tide yourself over with a dress from the Spring 2010 collection. -- Derek Read More
Yesterday Lela Rose presented her Resort 2010 collection at her AMAZING apartment in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City. Once I was able to take my eyes off the incredible architecture and beautiful interior design of her home, I saw some gorgeous clothes! Lela always creates a collection full of vibrant colors and juxtaposed textures, and this Resort Collection was no different. The models stood on tables in the living room and kitchen that come out of the floor and ceiling via pulleys so she can create a long table that can seat 100 guests...she LOVES to entertain. Always the perfect hostess, she even served homemade mint iced tea and macaroons. Those who know me know I have an unhealthy addiction to the latter. I was also lucky enough to be given a tour of the apartment. Enjoy the inside view! -- Derek Models on tables Lela’s closet...Carrie Bradshaw would be jealous! My favorite part of the apartment...the “Stitch-evator”- a mini elevator for Lela’s Norwich terrier, Stitch. It’s shaped like a dog house! Read More
