The soft and relaxed colors of the start of this show juxtaposed against the amazing textures of the fabrics. There was a richness in the materials and construction, but as usual the boys executed it in a way that didn’t feel stuffy. The pops of neon at the end of the show hinted at what was to be the industry’s major theme for the next few seasons.

    Badgley Mischka Spring 2011 70’s Glam Goddess is what I entitled the Spring 2011 NYFW season and this Badgley Mischka show epitomized the trend. The models marched down the runway feeling sexy and free in their 70’s flower child inspired looks and glamazon hair and makeup. These girls were ready for everything from Woodstock to Studio 54.

    Yigal Azrouël Spring 2012 I think every woman should own 4 things: a red suit, a pair of amazing wide leg trousers, a chic black dress and a simple but sexy gown. This recent Yigal show featured all four. The looks were well-edited and extremely cohesive; Yigal took his collection to another level.

    Ralph Lauren Collection Fall 2005 This collection was insanely wearable and insanely chic all at once. Mélange grey cashmere everything trimmed with saddle leather styled with gorgeous boots and turtleneck sweaters that could be extended into hoods…thinking about it almost gives me a chi-zure (chic seizure).

    Thakoon Spring 2007 This was one of Thakoon’s earliest shows, where he demonstrated he had a new and exciting vision of how a women should dress. It was at once romantic and modern, and both sculptural and soft. You could see the way every single piece of fabric was strategically manipulated. This was the show in which I learned what the term “Intellectual Dressing” meant.
