Why did this show make it to the #1 spot? Because it was my very first fashion show…ever! When I walked into the show space I was immediately mesmerized by the juxtaposition of the classical and ornate interior of the Free Mason’s Hall featuring the Matthew Williamson logo in hot pink neon lights above the stage. The models charged out from behind a burgundy velvet curtain and the clothes seemed to evolve throughout the show at the same pace as the accompanying rock soundtrack.

    Calvin Klein Fall 2006 Francisco Costa took an artisanal approach to this collection and featured beadwork, which is rarely seen on the minimalist’s runways. I loved the black, white and red color palette. The best part was the fused on MINK appliques in a chevron pattern- if you look up “luxe” in a dictionary, you will find an image from this collection. I’m serious!

    Zac Posen Fall 2005 In this collection Zac really focused on sportswear and took the tailoring aspect of his collection to the next level. I was obsessed with the flannel trousers featuring double inverted front pleats that released mid-thigh. There was a 70’s feeling to the collection but re-interpreted for the modern woman.

    Donna Karan Fall 2009 This collection introduced me to my favorite color combination: Grey and navy. This was also the season that the strong shoulder and belting jackets became a styling trend, which I also loved. I still get the chills though, thinking about the amazing live music provided by master pianist Eric Lewis and his cover of the Killers’ “Mister Brightside”

    Marc Jacobs Fall 2007 After countless seasons of pushing the limits of wearable fashion and pumped up volume, Marc Jacobs unveiled (all at once…57 models appeared styled and ready when the curtains opened) a very sleek and chic minimalist collection for Fall 2007. It was a gift to retailers everywhere. On a personal note, I was able to procure the belt from look 7 for myself, and to this day I still receive numerous compliments every time I wear it.
