Fall Color Report

Looking to change up your hair color this fall? We got the inside scoop on the hottest Hollywood trends for the season from Wella Professionals Celebrity Colorist, Jennifer J., who paints the tresses of starlets like January Jones, Kristen Stewart, Cate Blanchett and Lily Collins.
Trend #1: Shiny, Solid Color
This is a new trend that we saw all over the Emmy’s this year. It is youthful, elegant and simple, and when paired with extra shine it is a showstopper!
To achieve gorgeous shiny color, ask your colorist about Wella Professionals’ newest color innovation, ILLUMINA Color. It was just named a Breakthrough Beauty Award Winner by Allure magazine, and it’s my new color staple! ILLUMINA is amazing because it has great, natural tone on tone properties, so it won’t leave behind a flat, shoe polish look. Hair always looks super shiny. If hair color is new to you, take advantage of its glossiness and ask your colorist for a clear ILLUMINA gloss or barely there color to enhance your natural hue. You will be right on trend for the fall season!
Trend #2: Bronde
This is a look that we have seen before but the new twist is allowing a little brown to peek through. Blonde + Brown = Bronde.
The “bronde” trend usually looks best on medium blondes and light brunettes, and is the perfect solution to post-summer hair blues. It is an easy transition and quickly gives faded summer hair color new life. If you’re a blonde, you don’t have to keep highlighting through the winter season, ask your colorist for a semi-permanent color to give your roots a richer feel and pick a color that is slightly warmer than your current color. If you are a light brunette, ask your colorist to tone your ends down one level with a medium golden blonde semi-permanent color. This will make your hair really shiny and look more conditioned while giving your hair a break from highlights.
Trend 3: A Touch of Red
You don’t have to be fire engine red to join this trend. Just a hint of red is all you need. It is flattering to most skin tones and a fun color to wear.
If red has always been a little intimidating, but you want to give it a try, don’t worry, there are a couple of ways to fake it! Ask your colorist to add a bit of red into your regular toner, or you can add a few red highlights as a way of testing the waters. You can also go the semi-permanent route. Try asking your colorist for Wella Professionals Color Touch; it will wash out over 6-8 weeks and won’t last as long as permanent color in case you don’t like it. If you feel that it is a color that works for your skin tone go for it, but make sure to keep roots a tad bit darker so it still looks natural.
