At what moment did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer, and bring beautiful moments to women?
When I was a little girl growing up in South Africa, I used to pour over my mother’s VOGUE magazines. I loved the celebration of feminine beauty that I found on those glossy pages …..I then graduated to knitting and embroidering napkins with my grannies and as a young teenager my mom taught me how to use the sewing machine. I finally had my tools to create the beauty I loved and it was in these years that I established my passion for creating dresses.

What lessons have you taken and learned as you build your own company?
Wow, I could write a book on this subject alone. In summary, humility, patience, learning to listen and teamwork.

What are your favorite dresses this holiday season?
I am a fan of the classics and some things never date; black, lace and black lace. I also love beautiful signature back details on dresses, such an element of surprise.

What tips and tricks have helped you achieve your personal and career goals?
1. Find your niche in the market – do not try to be everything for everyone, you don’t need to play by the rules. Create something new, in the words of Steve Jobs “creativity is about connecting things”, all the elements existing, find your unique way to weave them together.
2. Follow your heart – do what you love and love what you do – this passion alone breads success.
3. Give your work meaning and purpose – what is your big WHY, your goal, it’s ok if it adjusts over time but make your work meaningful.
