First Day of Spring: A Trip to Ladurée

There comes a time living in New York, when the winter temperatures finally relax, the sun decides the come out, and you feel comfortable not wearing a parka and boots to work in the morning. Today, was this day. It just so happens it was also the first day of spring AND national macaron day. We know, we know, how could this mecca of a day been so overlooked? It wasn’t, for us at least.
So, we decided to embrace the weather, pastel sweets, and overall springtime happiness for a morning of bliss at the local Ladurée store in SoHo.

We walked (more like bopped) to the store, and were thrilled to see there was absolutely no line so we got the perfect table for two in the sunny storefront.
We spent some (read: more than appropriate) time checking out the beautiful pastries, and decided they were more works of confectionary art than simple sweets.
We’re still unsure if we chose our perfect macarons based on flavor or their perfect pastel color, but either way it worked out…
And the croissant just seemed necessary…
Cappuccinos, well stirred.
How did you celebrate national macaron day?
