It was the tweet heard around the world: “I’m @jcpenney’s HQ. Thank you Ron Johnson for the walk through of JCP’s prototype. Get ready to shop! Its going to be a game changer!” wrote Rent the Runway’s very first trendsetter and JC Penney’s newly assigned “style voice”, Nina Garcia. The fashion editor made a splash in both the fashion and finance worlds, whose media widely covered the tweet’s enormous impact on the retailer’s otherwise flat stock. One thing’s for sure: we can’t wait to see what the fashion mogul has in store for us! [WWD]

This week, Madonna fans everywhere are thanking their Lucky Star: come August, the international superstar can add shoe designer to her extensive resume. Madge’s own ‘Truth or Dare’ footwear line, popping up in Nordstrom and Macy’s stores across the country August 1st, consists of dozens of styles inspired by the performer’s personal style. As expected, the line is full of studded black leather, sky-high heels, metal accents, and over-the-knee boots, as well as a few slightly tamer options for those who want to wade into the diva pool slowly. The long awaited reincarnation of Yves Saint Laurent has arrived…or at least the label has. The fashion world has been abuzz since the French fashion house revealed its new minimal but elegant re-branding earlier this week, though not all YSL fans have rejoiced. What do you think of Slimane’s YSL takeover? [Fashionologie]
